Sony signs 10-year 'Call of Duty' deal with Microsoft: Why it is important
Sony has signed an agreement that allows Call of Duty to stay on PlayStation consoles, which could ease competition concerns around Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard. The move is significant because Sony was the most significant obstacle to the $69bn deal. Xbox head Phil Spencer said the agreement would offer global players more choice. Microsoft will seek to further boost Call of Duty's accessibility, said Brad Smith, vice chairman and president, adding that the company remained focused on addressing platform, game developer and consumer concerns. The deal will complete when Microsoft acquires Activision Blizzard, which has faced a legal battle with the US Federal Trade Commission.
