MeitY forms task force with the aim to make India 'product developer and manufacturing nation'

India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has formed a nine-member task force headed by Bhuvnesh Kumar, additional secretary of MeitY, to advise on making the country a “product developer and manufacturing nation”. The experts on the panel will examine deepening domestic value addition on electronics manufacturing, and expanding the story of local production beyond the Rs 36,000 crore ($4.9bn) production-linked incentive scheme, according to insiders. The government has already approved a similar scheme for air conditioning and LED lighting products, worth Rs 6,238 crore, with incentives over five years to encourage white goods manufacturing.
